The right light source for your needs

Different lamps provide different lights, and you need different lights for different purposes. Are you going to snuggle up or do you need a strong lamp to see when painting?

Firstly it is decisive how much light the lamp provides, which is measured in lumen. The higher the lumen the stronger the light.

Secondly, the temperature of the light affects the perception of the light. Light temperature is measured in Kelvin. The lower the Kelvin, the warmer the light, while a high Kelvin number of 3-4000 provides a cold, white light.

    Choose the right socket

The lamp you choose must have the right socket. There are a number of different sockets available, and here you can choose the one that fits your fixture.

Choose the right shape for your light source

The shape of a lamp is usually a matter of personal taste. In some cases, however, a specific shape is required in order for the lamp to fit or for a lampshade to be attached to the lamp. The height and width of the lamp are always stated on the packaging.

Different ways to achieve a dimming effect

Compatible LED bulbs can be dimmed using many standard dimmers. For best results, always check in advance that the bulb and dimmer are compatible. The easiest way to do this is to use our dimmer tables.

    Dimming without a dimmer

Another way to dim without a dimmer is to use lamps with a built-in dimmer, known as 3-step dimmable lamps. The brightness is easily adjusted by pressing the lamp's switch or wall socket a certain number of times. Read more about 3-step dimming in our guide.
